Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani has directed the officials concerned to initiate immediate action on the issues raised by members at the Zilla Parishad Standing Committee meeting. She presided over the meetings of the second and fourth Standing Committees.

The second Standing Committee meet discussed implementation of schemes pertaining to rural development and social welfare. Bheemunipatnam ZPTC S. Appa Rao raised the issue of irregularities in the allotment of houses and appealed to the Housing Corporation officials to initiate action on the same. The Project Director of Housing Corporation said that geo-tagging was being done to all the houses on the directions of the State government to identify irregularities in their construction.

He said that proposals were sent for reconstruction of the houses that were damaged in the rural areas of the district by cyclone Hudhud. The houses were likely to be sanctioned during January. He said that 25,000 houses constructed in the Agency areas of the district had to be linked with the Aadhar numbers.

Paderu ZPTC member P. Nookaratnam brought to the notice of the officials, the problems being faced by senior citizens in getting their age certificates due to lack of information. A DRDA official clarified that special camps were organised and doctors were made available to certify the age of senior citizens.

Lapses in loan waiver

Bheemunipatnam ZPTC alleged that irregularities had occurred in the implementation of ‘Runa maafi’ (loan waiver) programme and sought action against those who were involved in it. Divisional Cooperative Officer G. Govinda Rao said it was found that irregularities had occurred at Chettupalli and Dimili societies under the Narsipatnam and Rambilli mandals respectively and some officials were appointed to inquire into the same.

Members at the fourth Standing Committee meeting sought increase in the allocation of funds for construction of kitchens at schools. Munagapaka ZPTC Lakshmi Narayana felt that the District Education Officer should recommend to the government to increase the allocation from the present Rs.1.5 lakh in view of the steep increase in construction cost.
