Nookala Venkata Prabhakara Sarath of Ukkunagaram in the city gets second rank
G.V.D. Sai Krishna of Velivennu in West Godavari district, Nookala Venkata Prabhakara Sarath of Ukkunagaram in the city and Maummaneni Sai Yaswanth also from Velivennu bagged the first, second and third ranks respectively in the GAT-2014 for admission into B. Tech, B. Pharmacy, M. Tech and M. Pharmacy programmes offered by GITAM University.
Releasing the results here on Wednesday, GU Vice-Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam said that over 70,000 students from 28 states had appeared at GAT-2014, which was conducted, between April 17 and May 8, online in 36 cities across the country. The university was sending SMS to all eligible candidates and the rankers lists can also be seen on the university’s website www.gitam.edu .The top 10 rankers in B. Tech will get 100 per cent fee concession and the next 90 will get 50 per cent concessions. Monthly fellowship would be offered to meritorious candidates in each M. Tech programme under the World Bank-supported TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) project.
Prof. Subrahmanyam said that admissions into the 10 B. Tech, 15 M. Tech and B. Pharmacy programmes, offered in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bangalore, would be based on the performance of the students in GAT-2014. He said that 25 per cent of the seats were reserved for meritorious students from Karnataka for admission to the Bangalore campus. The first rank holders of the Central and State board examinations, equivalent to 10 plus two, would be given admission into the course of their choice, subject to eligibility criteria, without the need to appear at GAT-2014.Online admission
The Vice-Chancellor announced that the online admission counselling would be conducted in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Hyderabad and Bangalore from June 11 to 16. The counselling for M. Tech and M. Pharmacy programmes would be held on June 17. He said that around 2,000 students of the university got placement during the last academic year and the highest pay package was Rs.18 lakh per annum. He said that the university established separate Training and Placement Departments at the three campuses for the benefit of students.
