Not lifting garbage soon after its removal from drains is a frequent complaint.

The general rule that clearing the drains and lifting the garbage should happen in quick succession is more often not practised. Recently the Municipal Corporation has acquired several mini pick-up trucks and decided to use them for clearing garbage faster. Their joining the vehicles already available should have considerably improved the position.

But that does not appear to be the case. Dumper bins are placed near Sitampeta junction and the place usually stinks.

The foul smell from them is unbearable. On Tuesday, garbage was removed from the drain and dumped in a huge heap on the pavement.

It should have been removed at once as it is on one of the arterial roads of the city.

If it is the fate of such a road what will be the fate of the other roads is a big question. In spite of repeated warnings the sanitation situation leaves much to be desired.

With the monsoon setting in a shower or two can further worsen the situation and spread the mess around. One need not say that it is a health hazard.
