Minister for Infrastructure and Investment Ganta Srinivasa Rao has predicted that the day was not far off when industrialists would queue up to handover appointment letters to jobless youths.
Participating as chief guest at the valedictory of a two-day job mela, organised by FAPCCI-RYK at Avanthi Institute of Engineering and Technology, near here on Wednesday, he said the State was making giant strides of progress on the industrial front.
The government has approved industrial development works to the tune of Rs.6.5 lakh crore in the State. In Visakhapatnam district alone, works estimated at Rs.2.5 lakh crore were initiated.
These include: the industrial corridor between Visakhaptnam – Kakinada, setting up of a second refinery at a cost of Rs.40,000 crore and modernisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said one lakh jobs were provided under ‘Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu’, launched by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The objective of the programme was to provide 14 lakh jobs by 2014.
He said the State was facing a power crisis due to lack of rains on time and added that efforts would be made to set up power plants.
Bheemunipatnam MLA Avanthi Srinivasa Rao said 185 youths were provided employment opportunities through the two-day job mela.
FAPCCI-RYK Assistant Director B. Venkateswarlu said the details of all candidates who had attended the job mela were gathered and they would be sent to other companies that had not participated in the mela.
Vice-chairman of the Avanthi Group of Institutions Muttamsetti Priyanka, director B. Krishna, and principals P. Krishna Rao and S. Satyanarayana participated.
