‘Only Chandrababu Naidu can put State back on rails’

The Telugu Desam party is organising Praja Garjana on a large-scale at the Andhra University College of Engineering grounds here on March 12, to showcase its strength and also to mark the entry of former Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and four Congress MLAs in the presence of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Party’s State vice-president Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy said at a press conference here on Saturday that the Praja Garjana, in which some senior leaders and Polit Bureau members would also participate, was being held in such a manner that it would send a message of reassurance to people of Seemandhra that TDP and Mr. Naidu were behind them once the State was bifurcated. Only Mr. Naidu with his proven track record could run the administration well and put the Seemandhra region on the path of development again, he said.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao, who joined the press conference later, said he was coming back to TDP since only Mr. Naidu could put the State back on rails and support to him was necessary.

The MLAs who will join TDP along with him, U.V. Ramana Murthy Raju (Kannababu), M. Srinivasa Rao, P. Ramesh Babu and Ch. Venkatramiah, were present.

Party urban unit president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar said the event would see double the attendance of the one held at Vizianagaram on Thursday and once again prove that TDP was enjoying support of the people of this region.

A large scale meeting to mark the International Women’s Day here on March 8, during which Mr. Srinivasa Rao and others are scheduled to join the party was cancelled since it was felt appropriate to hold the programme in Hyderabad in which leaders and workers of both regions could participate, the TDP leaders said.

Former MLA P.V.G.R. Naidu (Ganababu) is convener of a large committee that was formed to make Praja Garjana a success.

The committee members include party MLAs G. Ramanaidu, K.S.N.S. Raju, V. Ramakrishna Babu and Siveri Soma along with the four MLAs joining the party; former Ministers Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu and M. Manikumari, former MP P. Chalapathi Rao, chairman of Visakha Dairy Adari Tulasi Das; senior leaders Lalam Bhaskara Rao, Harshavardhan Prasad, and Nagamani, and former corporator Ommi Sanyasi Rao.
