Gangavaram issue: petition committee sore

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Petitions Committee is unhappy with the State Government over the snail's pace at which it was implementing the agreement reached with the Gangavaram Port displaced persons.

According to Member of Legislative Council MVS Sarma, the Petitions Committee with deputy chairman of the council Mohamed Jani in the chair, at review meeting held in Hyderabad on Tuesday, after examining to what extent the agreement had been implemented so far, had felt that the officials were lethargic in the matter and set May 15 as deadline for implementing the agreement in toto.

He said Mr. Jani had even warned that failure to implement the Petitions Committee directive would amount to breach of privilege. The meeting which was attended by District Collector and other officials,.
