Obtaining permission from police to install Ganesh idols in public places is now only a click away.
With the police launching an exclusive website for the purpose , all one has to do is log on to http://ganesh.vizag.co/ and follow a set of instructions to obtain a no objection certificate for erecting the pandal and taking out a procession during Ganesh nimajjanam .
The single window system allows organisers of various Ganesh utsav committees and associations to adopt easy steps to fill in details online and seek permission for mike sets, loudspeakers, cultural programmes and for implementing safety protocol.
Till now 25 applications have been registered online. This apart, the Police are all set to geo-map the pandals and idols across the city by uploading the geo-coordinates on the google map and help view the locations of the pandals.
“The objective is to avoid any untoward incident and ensure hassle-free Ganesh Chathurti celebrations. The routes will be monitored by scanning the QR code as it will be linked to the dashboard of the control room. Any deviation identified in any particular route can be spotted immediately and efforts will be made to sort it out by coordinating with the patrolling vehicle fitted with GPS. Once installation of pandals is completed, geo-mapping will be carried out. This will also help the devout view the pandal locations online,” said K. Fakeerappa, DCP (Law and Order) Zone I.
Those, who register for pandals both online and in conventional manner, will now be given a quick response (QR) code sticker along with the no objection certificate. “This will make the constables in the respective jurisdictions more accountable and help them check the pandals for compliance with fire safety norms other protocols on a daily basis,” said Mr. Fakeerappa.
So far, about 3,000 QR code stickers have been generated and they will be given to organisers along with the NoC certificates.
The DCP said additional police force will be deployed during Ganesh immersion ceremony and adequate number of CCTV cameras were in place at various junctions.
Soon, contact numbers of expert swimmers will be added to the website so that pandal organisers can get in touch with them in case of any emergency.
