Implementation of Gandhian ideals is the only way to solve the problems facing the country, prominent Gandhian and freedom fighter K.S. Sastry said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a meeting organised on Gandhi Vardhanti by Gandhi Centre and Ba-Bapu Seva Sangham, he said non-violence was the ultimate solution to all the problems. He called for popularising the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and his contribution for driving out the Englishmen from the Indian soil among the youth. Mr. Sastry, secretary of Gandhi Centre, said “Gandhism is the only hope. Everyone wants change and that could be achieved only by practising Gandhian ideals.”
Speaking on the occasion, director, Centre for Policy Studies, A. Prasanna Kumar said that Gandhiji fought for non-violence, communal harmony and social justice. Stating that every Indian was a descendant of Mahatma Gandhi, he stated how ‘Hindustan Standard’ kept the edit page blank as a mark of respect for the Father of the Nation on January 31, 1948 with one paragraph tribute “Gandhiji has been killed by his people for whose redemption he lived. This second crucifixion in the history of the world has been enacted on a Friday – the same day Jesus was done to death one thousand nine hundred and fifteen years ago. Father forgive us.”

RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant observed vardhanti at Mahatma Gandhi Park, Ukkunagaram. Director (Finance) P. Madhusudan and others paid rich tributes by garlanding the statue Gandhiji.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Madhusudan lauded the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi during freedom struggle and his non-violence and contribution to the country in attaining Independence.
Senior officers, union leaders, representatives of SC and ST association and a large number of employees paid floral tributes on the occasion. RINL collective joined the Nation in observing a two-minute silence in their respective departments on the occasion of Martyrs Day in memory of those, who laid down their lives in the struggle of India’s Independence.
