He visits Andhra University campus after taking over as in-charge V-C
Full-time Vice-Chancellor for 14 State universities in Andhra Pradesh will be appointed by September-end, Principal Secretary (higher education) and V-C in-charge of Andhra University M.G. Gopal said here on Saturday.
Mr. Gopal visited the AU campus for the first time after taking over as V-C in-charge. V-C in-charge has not much to do and he would also be busy as Principal Secretary, Mr. Gopal said and announced that Rector P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy would discharge duties on his behalf. This was the practice in other universities also. However, he would visit Visakhapatnam, “which is like my own place”, whenever he could get time, he said.
Prof. Prasada Reddy and Controller of Examinations and Registrar in-charge K. Samrajyalakshmi briefed him about the universities. Mr. Gopal cleared some important files after the briefing. The V-C in-charge garlanded the bust of founder Vice-Chancellor Sir CRR Reddy before entering the Central Administrative Office building. He inquired with former Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. Satyanarayana, who called on him, about the pending issues of the university.
Principals of campus colleges, deans, representatives of the AU Teachers Association, non-teaching staff association, research scholars and students gave representations on their problems and issues.
