Additional DCP (crime) S. Varadarajulu said Nazarul Islam had sent Ansarul Sheik (22), Ziarul Sheik (26), Ahkamal Islam (23) and M. Islam (23) to Vizag with counterfeit currency of Rs. 45,000 each.

Four men from Murshidabad district in West Bengal were arrested by the Crime Police on Monday and Rs. 32,500 in genuine currency and 104 counterfeit notes of Rs. 1,000 and 33 Rs. 500 notes were recovered from them. The gang leader Nazarul Islam was absconding.

Additional DCP (crime) S. Varadarajulu at a press conference said Nazarul Islam had sent Ansarul Sheik (22), Ziarul Sheik (26), Ahkamal Islam (23) and M. Islam (23) to the city on November 11 with counterfeit currency of Rs. 45,000 each.

The four had stayed in a lodge near railway station and allegedly purchased household articles in shops here by exchanging the counterfeit currency notes and deposited in banks the balance given to them.

The crime police got the scent of fake currency being exchanged in the shops and a team led by ACP (crime) Ishaq Mohammed and consisting of CIs PVVSN Krishna Rao, PVV Narasimha Rao and Konda and SI S. Ramesh, Head Constables B. Appa Rao, Rambabu and Ch. Sekhar investigated the case arrested the four and seized the fake and genuine currency notes.

Commits suicide

A 32-year-old businessman committed suicide by allegedly consuming a chemical at his house in Srinagar in Gajuwaka area. His death came to light on Monday when the neighbours reported to the Gajuwaka police after foul smell emanated from the house locked from inside. Police broke open the doors and found the body of P. Narasimha Varma in a decomposed state. Mounting debts and not having a male child were said to be the reasons for Varma taking the extreme step. His wife Swati had given birth to the couple’s second daughter one week ago. ASI of Gajuwaka S. Satyanarayana said a case of suspicious death was registered. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Body found

The body of an unidentified woman was found by the side of railway track near Shyam Nagar in Marripalem on Monday morning. There were injuries on the neck and other parts of the body leading to a suspicion that she might have been murdered. The body was sent for post-mortem.
