‘Focus on producing more special steel’

RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director P. Madhusudan on Tuesday said the company had finalised strategies for technological upgradation to produce more special steel and value added products to improve its share in the segment.

He was speaking after inaugurating the all India special steel customers’ meet organised by the Marketing Department of RINL at Ukkunagaram.

Mr. Madhusudan said special steel plays a significant role in the present market in improving the brand image and would contribute in enhancing the bottom-line of the organisation.

RINL was presently emphasising on improving the efficiency and ramping up of production from the expansion units to achieve cost competitiveness, he said. The CMD said RINL had completed the modernisation of existing units with the blowing-in of Blast Furnace-2 Krishna and expressed confidence that the company would fare better during the current financial year with the operation of all the three blast furnaces.

He exhorted the customers to come out with useful deliberations/suggestions to improve the special steel products being rolled out from VSP.

Director (Commercial) P. Raychaudhury said the meeting was aimed at cementing the relations with the special steel customers and carrying forward the business further in special steel segment in the country. He said that RINL was working to meet the requirements of special steel customers to improve the market share in the country.

Director (Operations) P.K. Rath said RINL was expecting to produce over 20% of special steel of total production and was all set to improve the performance significantly this year.

Among others, O.R. Ramani, executive director (Works), S.K. Chakrabarti, General Manager (Marketing) and others were present.

Customers from automobile Industry, Indian Railways and general engineering from all over India took part. They were also taken around the major production units and steel rolling mills.
