Architects should give equal importance to rural people and design affordable housing to our communities, GITAM University president M.V.V.S. Murthi said here on Monday.

Participating in a programme organised by GITAM School of Architecture on GITAM University campus, he told students and faculty that good housing design was a delicate balance of community values, individual needs, aesthetic judgments, and technical requirements. Good architectural designs could make a world of difference for the people who will live in the affordable housing.

He advised that the younger generation, who were studying architecture, should utilise their knowledge for the community and disclosed that the university was planning to strengthen the programme with international standards.

He visited that students' exhibition and appreciated their efforts.

Vice-Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam, School of Architecture Director G.V.S. Sai and others participated in the programme.
