March 27, 2014 10:38 pm | Updated November 07, 2016 11:08 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Indigo’s Kolkata-Bangalore non-stop flight (No. 6E434) made a ‘priority landing’ here at Visakhapatnam International Airport on Thursday after a passenger complained of severe chest pain.

“On the request of captain-on-board after the flight took off from Kolkata, a request was made for a priority landing at the nearest airport. Later clearance was given to divert it to Visakhapatnam,” a spokesperson for Indigo told The Hindu from Delhi.

Naval doctors who attended on the sick passenger at the airport advised Indigo to rush him to a corporate hospital. An ambulance was allowed up to the ramp but unfortunately, the patient died on the way to the hospital, the spokesperson said without divulging details. The flight, which landed here at 3:55 pm, left for Bangalore at 4:54 p.m.
