Delay in the departure of the AirAsia flight from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru led to chaos among passengers at the airport here Thursday.

The AirAsia flight (15-1453) was originally scheduled to leave Vizag at 11 a.m. and reach Bengaluru at 12.40 p.m. But, it arrived late and left at 2.03 p.m. and reached Bengaluru at 3.44 p.m.

There were some Ayyappa devotees, who had to catch a connecting SpiceJet flight from Bengaluru to Kochi. The delay in the arrival and departure of the AirAsia flight got them on their nerves. They demanded return of the connecting flight fare and the AirAsia staff pleaded helplessness.

“The AirAsia flight had arrived late in Vizag. Some passengers insisted on return of the fare as they would miss their connecting flight. The AirAsia authorities agreed to accommodate those passengers on their evening flight from Bengaluru to Cochin at a nominal fare,” Airport Director Prakash Reddy told The Hindu .
