July 28, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Moka Naganna, a fisherman from Gillakaladindi village in Machilipatnam, was awarded the Indian Coast Guard Search and Rescue Award (ICG SAR award) in recognition of saving four fishermen who were stranded at sea.

He received the award in New Delhi on Wednesday from Director General of Indian Coast Guard Rajender Singh, during the National Maritime Search and Rescue Board (NMSARB) meeting held at Vigyan Bhawan.

The NMSAR Board has instituted the ICG SAR award for fishermen or fishing boats involved in search and rescue operations with an aim to recognise the efforts put in by the fisherfolks and also to encourage them to participate and support search and rescue operations at sea.
