Fisherman chosen for ICG award

A fisherman of Gilakaladindi in Machilipatnam has bagged a prestigious award from the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) for his bravery and selflessness in rescuing four fishermen from drowning, when their boat had capsized on April 11.

The bravery of Moka Naganna, son of Laala Saheb, was acknowledged by the ‘National Maritime Search and Rescue Board (NMSARB) of the Government of India. The Board instituted an award for fishermen of fishing boats involved in Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. The objective of the award is to recognise the efforts of our fisher folks and motivate them to provide wholehearted support for SAR operations at sea.
