Fine for littering at Rly. station

Littering Railway premises will hereafter attract hefty penalties. The Railway Act has been suitably amended to sensitise the general public and to ensure cleanliness and hygiene on Railway premises.

Those littering, cooking, bathing, spitting, urinating, defecating, washing utensils or clothes or indulging in any other activities, which affect the cleanliness of the Railway premises, will henceforth be fined up to Rs.500 by the Railway administration.

For ‘A1’ class and ‘A’ class stations the amount of fine to be imposed are (Visakhapatnam, Rayagada, Srikakulam Road, Vizianagaram in Waltair Division):

For littering – Rs.100, for spitting – Rs.200, for urinating – Rs.300 and for defacing walls – Rs.500. Littering at other stations, track outside station section, in trains and at any other railway premises, also comes under the purview of penalty for littering, for which the penalty will be Rs.30, according to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M. Yelvender Yadav. He appealed to all passengers and the general public to cooperate with the Railway administration.
