Sri Ramakrishna Math in the city will be organising various events from March 31 to April 4.
This was announced at a press conference on Sunday by Math's head Swami Akshratmananda. Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao, MLA, released the brochure brought out on the occasion.
The five-day event includes a book festival and spiritual meetings. The Government Arts College ground is the venue. Mr. Suryaprakasha Rao said that Tourism Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar would attend the festival on the inaugural day. On April 1, Chairman of the AP Legislative Council M. Chakrapani and TTD Executive Officer I.V.R. Krishna Rao would take part in the festivities. On April 2, Minister for Information D.K. Aruna would participate in the festival.
Swami Akshratmananda said that the celebrations were part of the centenary visit of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi to the city on April 2, 1911, when she had taken a holy dip in the Godavari.
The festivities coincide with the diamond jubilee of the Math and the 175th birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, he said.
He said that there would also be cultural programmes on the occasion.
There would be spiritual discourses during the festival, he said.
