The entire city has geared up to celebrate Sankranti with gaiety and grandeur. Many schools vied with one another to entertain the children to bring out the traditional spirit in the form of interesting competitions like ‘rangoli’, ‘spot-painting’, ‘kite-flying’, cooking and a bunch of others.
With the city hosting special events at malls, clubs and other places, women can exhibit their inherent talent participating in rangoli competition at Varun INOX on the Beach Road on Saturday. While the multiplex complexes are swarmed by the people to pick up their festival attires, hotels in the city have sliced out a special fiesta to entertain the guests.
Green Park Hotel is organising – Uttar Dakshin Fest with a spread of multi-cuisine delicacies to suit the festive mood. The menu contains lip-smacking recipes like’ babycorn-capsicum masala’, ‘palak-paneer’, ‘guthi-vankaya kura’, ‘kaddu ka dalcha’, ‘dal-pancharatan’, ‘aloo rasili’, ‘palakdar kofta curry’ and an array of vegetarian delights.
‘Mutton roganjosh’, ‘chicken pulao’, ‘prawn-gassi’, ‘fish amritsari’, ‘shahi anda masala’ and ‘butter chicken masala’ are lined up for the non-vegetarian lovers. To pamper your taste buds further, traditional sweetmeats like ‘moong dal halwa’, ‘chakkara pongali’, ‘boorelu’ are on the offer.
The special menu is open for four days at Uttar Dakshin restaurant between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. from Saturday.
Saturday fervour
In line with the celebrations, Dharani Restaurant at Hotel Daspalla offers a five-day ‘Andhra Bhojanalu’ between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. ‘Sankranthi Ruchulu’ at Triveni restaurant for four days.
To cater to the children and entertain the guests with cultural programmes,
‘Sankranthi Sambaralu’ is celebrated at the venue which would last for three days between 6:30 p.m and 10:30 p.m. The three special festival treats will commence on Saturday.
