Farm loan waiver scheme lacked clarity: YSRCP

December 10, 2014 12:45 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:44 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

YSRCP has accused the TDP Government of letting down people by its flip-flop on its main poll promise of loan waiver to farmers and DWCRA members.

Party district president Gudivada Amarnath said the Chief Minister’s announcements lacked clarity and the allocation of Rs.5,000 crore was meagre as the loans below Rs.50,000 alone amounted to Rs.13,000 crore, he told reporters here. The Government itself had admitted that the total loans were to the tune of Rs.87,000 crore. The promised Price Stabilization Fund was not set up, he alleged.

During the six months of its rule, it had done precious little for people and failed on all fronts, he said. Not even a single institute of higher learning like IIT or IIM had started functioning in the city.

Mr. Amarnath wanted the Chief Minister to reveal expenditure on his visits by special aircraft though regular flight services were available.

He said the Chief Minister was making regular trips to the city in view of the municipal corporation elections that would take place in near future.

Former MLAs Tynala Vijay Kumar and T. Gurumurthy Reddy and party leaders Kola Guruvulu, S. Ramakrishna Reddy Tippala Nagi Reddy, John Wesley, I H Farooqui and Villuri Bhaskara Rao were present.
