Fake bus pass racketeer nabbed

A team of Three Town police station (MVP Zone) led by SHO Vidyasagar on Tuesday arrested a rubber stamp maker of Chodavaram mandal for allegedly making fake APSRTC bus passes. A lorry driver who was reportedly using a fake bus pass was also arrested.

Bathina Sivaram Ganesh (24) of Bangarampalem of Chodavaram mandal allegedly prepared rubber stamps in the name of a polytechnic and an APSRTC stamp denoting ‘Verified and Issue Pass’ in the name of the Depot Manager of APSRTC- Waltair division. He sold fake bus passes to 21 persons charging Rs. 1,500 each, it was learnt.

The fake passes were noticed APSRTC Waltair Depot Manager Divya and she had lodged a complaint on August 7 with the police.

Basing on an investigation, the police arrested Ganesh and lorry driver V. Devu Naidu. Search was on for the remaining 20 persons who bought the fake bus passes.
