A group of students were jotting down important points listed out in the ‘Terrace farming’ project, put up by Sadana Model School, Ravikamatam. One of the students H. Sripriya says, “The concept is interesting and we want to implement it as a team. A little space and minimum maintenance are what you need to create a rooftop garden.”

Wind power

The conversion of wind power into alternative fossil fuel was depicted by a team of Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Rajam.

Students from ZPHS, Cheedigummala, explain about ‘Vision Aqua’ that focuses on depletion of water resources and the means to control the same. They said that they were keen on creating awareness among people about their project.

The adverse effects of artificial methods of ripening the fruits were demonstrated by B. Vamsi Krishna, a Class X student of ZPHS, V.R.R. Peta. He suggested to smell the fruits before buying and recommended to stick to seasonal fruits and vegetables.

These were some of the 168 models put up by various government and Zilla Parishad High schools across the district as part of the three-day District-level INSPIRE Science Exhibition, which drew its curtain down on Saturday.

Here, each theme carried a message. Applying fundamental principles and combining it with innovative concepts, a total of 168 schools have put up their exhibits at SFS High School, Sitammadhara.

The fair drew hordes of students from various schools who felt useful to absorb the innovative techniques adopted by the participants that addressed global issues.

According to DEO M.V. Krishna Reddy, out of 168 models, top 12 will be selected for participation in the State-level science fair, scheduled in Hyderabad by this month-end. The state-level winners would be taking part in the national-level exhibition which will be held in Delhi later this year.

In the evening, mementoes and certificates were given away to 12 students for their innovative themes.
