Utter chaos prevailed at the Government Polytechnic, located beside the National Highway at Kancharapalem, as Eamcet and Polycet rank holders had to wait outside the college due to the failure of online servers on Monday.

While it was the first day of counselling for Eamcet rankers, the Polycet counselling was supposed to end on June 8.

It is learnt that Polycet rankers had a tough time due to the failure of online servers on Saturday also. Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao formally launched Eamcet counselling on Monday but the process could not begin due to failure of the server.

The Minister left soon after the launch as he was said to be have been indisposed.

“The central server did not function. NIC had put it up for maintenance but due to technical problems it failed to start. We started the process manually at 3 p.m. A total of 202 candidates registered and paid the fee. Their certificates were verified and manual receipts were issued to them. The details would be fed online once the central server opens. These candidates were asked to report at 3 p.m. on Tuesday for issue of online receipt,” Principal of Government Polytechnic P.V.L.N. Sivaprasad told The Hindu in the evening.
