Over 200 people participated in a Facebook Live Town Hall meeting held with Collector Pravin Kumar on Saturday. The event organised by social networking startup Localwire saw a wide variety of topics being addressed including Smart City concept, road and infrastructure updates and future initiatives of the district administration.

During the first hour, the Collector gave an update on the initiatives taken in the past one year and their current status, what exactly is the meaning of Smart City and how Visakhapatnam is shaping up as one, what challenges the city is facing currently and the roadmap for the next one year. In the next segment of the event, he addressed the queries raised by the participants.

The event was live streamed on Localwire’s Facebook page (facebook.com/localwireapp), which has an online reach of around 75,000 people.

One of the participants, Raju Perla raised the issue of the need to create sports facilities and play grounds for children. Chandra Sekhar urged the administration to look at easing traffic situations in major junctions like Maddilapalem and Gurudwara Junction with foot-over bridges before building multi-level flyover projects at NAD Junction.

The meeting was telecast live on screens at Beach Road YMCA Parking Area and CMR Central.
