CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna has demanded expanding the scope of the inquiry into land scandals to 10 mandals in Visakhapatnam district.
Since the number of complaints had already crossed 1000, SIT would not be able to handle it, he said reiterating his party’s demand for a judicial inquiry.
‘CM should act’
R & B Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu himself complaining to SIT exposed the gravity of the scandals, he said demanding that the Chief Minister should act against those in positions of power and facing allegations.
In spite of the plight of Dalits at Garagaparru in West Godavari district and denial of work government did not take any action, he alleged.
‘Arrest not justified’
Arrest of those who stood by Dalits was not justified, Mr. Ramakrishna said.
He found fault with the Chief Minister for not visiting Chaparayi where 16 girijans died.
In the Agency areas of East Godavari and Visakhapatnam girijans were agitating for water and medical facilities and the Chief Minister should tour them, he demanded.
Party State Assistant secretary J V Satyanarayana Murthy and district secretary A J Stalin were present.
