Former Bheemili MLA Karri Sitaram was admitted into the YSR Congress Party by party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at a public meeting at Tagarapuvalasa near here on Thursday.

A number of present and past sarpanches and MPTCs, some former corporators and a former MP candidate from Ongole MN Kondaiah joined the party at the largely attended public meeting held at Chittivalasa Jute Mills Junction. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy continued his tirade against Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for making promises that could not be kept. The State would not be able to create budgetary provisions for promises like loan waivers, he said. He spoke for nearly 40 minutes for which the crowd had assembled for more than two hours in advance.

Though the party sources expected that he would announce candidates for the Assembly segments in the Visakhapatnam constituency, the party president did not make any such announcement.

After the meeting the party president left for Vizianagaram, where he would halt for the night. On Friday he would address a meetings in Vizianagaram town.
