A field inspection team from ECIL that manufactured the electronic voting machines (EVMs) checked the machines at the Sitammadhara MRO office on Wednesday.

EVMs meant for Visakhapatnam North and South Assembly constituencies have been kept at the MRO office. Those relating to four city constituencies are at the District Treasury Office. The inspection of some of the other assembly constituencies in the district has also been completed.

According to officials, this is an exercise carried out by the field team ahead of the 2014 Assembly elections. Any machines found to be requiring some service will be identified. The technical team will follow up for repairs required.

In case the machines cannot be repaired, they would be sent to ECIL head office at Hyderabad for replacement.
