EPF employee in CBI net

A lower division clerk of Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Kadapa, was caught by the officer of Central Bureau of Investigation- Visakhapatnam unit, while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 9,000 from a complainant on Monday. The accused, S. Danam, was arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge Court for CBI cases in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

He demanded the bribe for processing the PF loan application of three officials of Kavali Municipality, Nellore District.

The complainant and two of his friends, working as casual workers in Kavali Municipality, had applied for EPF loan through the office of Commissioner Kavali Municipality. The applications were processed and sent to EPF office, Kadapa.

Later, when the complainant visited the accused to enquire about the status of the application, he demanded Rs. 3,000 for processing each application.
