The festive mood and vibrancy of ‘Baisakhi' (Punjabi New Year) can be experienced in full at the ongoing Punjabi Food Festival at Hotel Green Park.
The hotel has opened the three-day festival on Monday, but intends to continue through the weekend, depending on the response.
To lend authenticity to the festive mood, the hotel has created a mini Punjabi village at its spacious lawns, the Meadows, where the festival is being held.
The set includes mud houses and charpais and a bullock cart has been positioned tastefully to add to the rustic look.
The unit head of the hotel K.M. Rao says that the master chefs of the hotel have gone into the culinary delights of Punjab in detail, to dish out genuine Punjabi food to the gourmets.
The food cooked on the spot and served hot, ala Punjabi style, includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights like malai paneer tiranga, tandoori kacha kala da tikka, tandoori gobi Amritsari, murgh lasooni kebab lahori and chicken tikka karnal da and chatpata chutney kebab.
The spread also includes a wide variety of assorted paranthas and rotis and desserts like lassi, shahi tukda, gajar k halwa, matki kheer, moong dal halwa and ice creams.
On the entertainment side, the hotel's live band ‘Rhythm and Taal' belts out the hottest and the latest chartbusters both from Punjabi albums and Bollywood movies and the dance floor is open for ‘Bhangra unlimited'.
“We have also arranged fun-filled contests with prizes to keep the guests in good humour,” says Mr. Rao. The festival is open for dinner.
