Minister says every student carrying a valid hall ticket should be allowed free travel by APSRTC buses to and from the examination centre

Reviewing the preparations for conduct of Class X public examination from March 21 to April 7, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao directed officials of the Education Department in all the 13 districts to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the exams.

Reviewing the preparations in all the 13 districts through video conference, the HRD Minister directed the officials to ensure that every examination centre had proper furniture and amenities and in case of any shortage asked them to arrange them from other schools or take them on hire.

This year 6,57,595 students have been issued hall tickets for appearing for Class X examination of them 6,21, 517 are regular students and 36,078 are appearing as private candidates from 36,078 schools across the State, the Minister noted. The examination is being conducted in 3,028 centres.

He directed the officials to categorise the exam centres as A B and C based on past reports of irregularities and location. CCTV cameras and web cameras would be positioned in problematic centres apart from having sitting squads and taking other steps to ensure there were no malpractices.

He directed the APSRTC officials to operate special buses to enable the students to appear for the examination and that the buses should be operated from two hours prior to scheduled beginning of the examination. He said every student carrying a valid hall ticket should be allowed free travel by the APSRTC buses to and from the examination centre.

Surprise visits

Cautioning the officials against being lax, he said he would make surprise visits to the exam centres to ensure that the students were not being inconvenienced. He directed the MEOs to check all the examination centres and ensure all facilities were available, and directed them to immediately erect fences in case of any school did not have a compound wall.

The Minister directed the officials to have an ANM and first aid box and ORS packets available at every exam centre.

Commissioner of School Education Sandhya Rani, Director Examinations Prasanna Kumar and other officials participated in the video conference from Hyderabad and the Education Department officials from all the 13 districts participated from their respective districts.
