Students from Andhra Pradesh recorded higher pass percentage in both the engineering and medical streams of the EAMCET compared to their peers in the Telangana region.
In engineering, AP students registered pass percentage of 72.59 compared to 68.86 of Telangana region while in the medical stream AP students secured 86.21 passes as against 80.98 of Telangana region. The overall pass percentage in engineering was 70.77 and 83.16 in the medical stream.
The results were released by the Telangana Education Minister, G. Jagadish Reddy, here on Monday. Interestingly, pass percentage was the highest among the ST category students in both the streams. Gurram Sai Srinivas from Markapuram emerged as the topper in the medical stream of EAMCET scoring 159 marks out of 160 while Nandigam Pavan Kumar of Hyderabad topped in the engineering stream with a score of 158 marks. There was not a single girl in the top 10 in engineering while the honours were shared equally by boys and girls in medicine.
Mr. Reddy said that the OMR sheets will be kept online for the first time to ensure transparency and students can download it from ‘www.apeamcet.org’ from 5 p.m. on June 10 to 5 p.m. on June 13. Candidates can submit their representation about any discrepancy in the evaluation of the OMR answer sheets.
The minister said as far as Telangana was concerned the fee reimbursement issue would be discussed in the Cabinet and the policy would be announced. On continuation of EAMCET for both States, he said the issue would be discussed by both Governments though he was in favour of separate tests.
Engineering counselling is likely to start on June 29.
