As a part of its golden jubilee celebrations, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) is organising a maritime seminar titled “National Maritime Power - Concepts, Constituents and Catalysts ,” at Samudrika Auditorium, Visakhapatnam on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The two-day seminar, being organised in association with National Maritime Foundation, would address the concerns in the maritime environment and would encourage fostering a maritime thought process in shaping the policy and industry towards becoming a stronger maritime power.
The seminar will be attended by the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba, former Chiefs, Admiral Arun Prakash, Admiral R K Dhowan, former Commanders-in-Chiefs of the ENC, senior officers from the Navy and the Coast Guard, senior government officials, heads of public sector undertakings, members of the academia and National Maritime Foundation, eminent speakers, subject experts and students from colleges.
In the inaugural session, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the ENC Vice Admiral H C S Bisht will deliver the welcome address. Chairman of the National Maritime Foundation Admiral R K Dhowan will deliver the inaugural address and the Chief of the Naval Staff will deliver the keynote address.
Eleven eminent speakers will address the seminar over four sessions during the two days and each session will be chaired by former Commander-in-Chiefs of the ENC.
Salient issues planned to be discussed during the two days of the seminar are, “India as a Resurgent Maritime Power,” “Maritime Economics, Infrastructure and Maritime Environment,” “Maritime Security and Safety,” and “Regional Maritime Dynamics.” The seminar would comprehend the prevailing maritime environment and come up with recommendations which would aid the policy-makers with appropriate course corrections towards becoming a strong maritime power in the region.
The Eastern Naval Command, formed on March 1, 1968 is celebrating its golden jubilee year from April 1, 2017 to March 1, 2018 through ‘ Swarn Varsh Samaroh’.
