Robbers broke into the house of an elderly woman (retired BSNL employee) in Sector 11 of MVP Colony on Thursday and made good with 350 gm of gold ornaments and ₹1 lakh in cash.

The robbers entered the house when M. Sarojini (74) was alone and committed the crime after threatening her.

The victim told the police that the burglars who were in their thirties, entered her home under the pretext of enquiring about the “To let” board, at around 11.30 a.m.

They then threatened her and tied her down and committed the crime. After great difficulty she freed herself and with the support of neighbours approached the City Task Force Police station. Based on the information from the CTF, the MVP Colony police visited the spot and gathered a few clues. Sources said Sarojini’s husband and daughters have been staying abroad.
