A strike ballot was conducted by the East Coast Railway Shramik Union (E Co RSU), to oppose the retrograde recommendations of the 7{+t}{+h}Central Pay Commission and Dr. Bibek Debroy Committee recommendations, on February 11 and 12.

A large number of employees participated in the strike ballot and the results will be announced after collection of ballot papers from all over the zone and completion of counting on Saturday, according to E Co RSU president Ch. Gandhi.

It was tentatively decided by the National Joint Committee of Action (NJCA), New Delhi, to go for indefinite strike from 6 a.m. on April 11 and a notice would be served to the East Coast Railway General Manager by E Co RSU on March 11, if the genuine demands were not resolved.
