East Coast Railway clarifies on pooled quota

August 17, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:39 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a statement on Tueday that the changing of general waitlist to pooled quota for the Chennai Central – Visakhapatnam (12829) has been incorporated by the Southern Railway on the basis of analysis of the demand prevailing at Visakhapatnam.

Reacting to the weekly column based on readers’ reactions ‘On The Move’, SDCM of Waltair Division M. Yelvender Yadav said there was change in the quota of train No. 12830 (Bhubaneswar – Chennai). The incorporation of Visakhapatnam as a location will enable the commuters from Visakhapatnam, intending to travel towards Bhubaneswar, to purchase tickets until chart preparation, which was not possible earlier. At present 22801 and 22869 Weekly expresses run directly from Visakhapatnam-Chennai Central besides a bunch of through trains running via this city, which meet the demand of this region and also we run special trains during vacations and festive seasons.

Regarding Visakhapatnam-Krishnarajapuram special train, path constraints in other zones lead to revision of timings. In fact, ECoR has proposed for haulage concurrence to be approved by South Western Railway, which has not yet come. But our headquarters is regularly chasing up the issue, he added.
