Durga Puja celebrations

Religious fervour and enthusiasm marked the Durga Puja celebrations by Utkal Sankrutika Samaj on the premises of Jagannath Temple, Daspalla Hills.

The celebrations, which began on Thursday, will conclude on October 17, the Vijayadasami Day. The Samaj is the oldest socio-cultural organisation for Oriyas in the city.

The festivities include song and dance programme on Maha Ashtami and a comedy play by members of the Samaj ‘Bahu Katakiani' on October 16. Bhog will be served to all the devotees on Maha Ashtami and Navami.

Samaj president and Orissa Stevedores Ltd General Manager J.K. Nayak and secretary Bijay Mahapatra said that the puja and cultural programmes were open to people from all sections.

Tastefully decorated

The temple is tastefully decorated during the festival.
