With a fair chunk of greenery in place, Abid Nagar charms one with an array of quaint structures. When it comes to garbage maintenance, the colony paints an impressive picture.

The residents consider the locality safe and theft-free. Here, there is no dearth of water. However, some of the roads are in a very bad shape as they have been badly dug up. In addition to this, a handful of non-functional streetlights make the whole experience of walking a miserable one.

According to the colony people, a few months ago, some of the lanes have been dug up to lay underground pipelines. “Although the work has been completed, authorities left the roads unattended, making it extremely difficult to navigate in the dark,” says Bhavani, a homemaker.

From higher income groups to lower income ones, the colony is a home for many. Several slum-dwellers, who have been living in the colony, make a living by selling food items. For some, this is causing inconvenience. “The place becomes a mess as food vendors clean the plates and utensils on the road itself. Those who are close to these food joints need to suffer as unbearable stench emanates from water stagnation,” says K. Satyavani, a resident.

Ever since its inception, the locality has witnessed development in terms of civic infrastructure. Except a very few unsettling issues, there are enough reasons why a majority of the residents think twice before considering relocation.
