The Department of Science and Technology of Government of India has sanctioned Rs.16 crore to the Andhra University for infrastructure development and research projects, University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju has said.

Further, the Naval Research Board has come forward to set up a Centre for Excellence in the university with a grant of Rs.10 crore. The university has sent a proposal for 26 projects, which are awaiting clearance of the board.
“All these are bound to give a fillip to research in the university,” Prof. Raju said addressing students of Department of Systems Design at the inaugural of a one-day workshop on microelectronics.
“Electronics is the only field where technology is not only bringing down the size of the product but also its cost. The new technology products are also consuming lesser power,” he pointed out.
System designs
Elaborating on the importance of system designs, he pointed out that right at the design level factors like emission and noise must be addressed to ensure proper functioning of the chip in real world.
He urged students to make the best use of such workshops.
The workshop was organised by the department in association with the Institute of Engineers (India), Visakhapatnam local centre, and Tammina Infotech, which provided the training resources for the workshop.
The programme aimed at helping the students get aware of microelectronics and its applications in the real world.
Principal of University College of Science Gnanamani, member of National Council of Institute of Engineers (India) K Venkatasubbaiah, secretary of IEI Local Centre G. Padmavathi, CEO of Tammina Infotech Easwar Tammina, Head of Department of Systems Design and Chairman IEI Local Centre M. Purnachandra Rao, and professors from other departments and students were present.
