Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) employees contributed their one-day salary towards alleviating the suffering of the flood victims in the State.
GCC MD B. Kishore handed over a cheque for Rs.5,28,405, drawn in favour of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, to Minister for Tribal Welfare P. Balaraju here on Tuesday.
General Managers S. Adinarayana (Administration) and V. Appa Rao (Marketing) and union leaders Nagendra Prasad and K. Parvathamma were present.
Members of Sneha Sandhya, a senior citizen’s association, collected clothes, rations, utensils and other articles for the flood victims and handed them over to The Visakha Welfare Federation for distribution in Kurnool and Guntur.
The members also contributed Rs.42,000 and handed it over to Sri Satyasai Seva Samithi for undertaking relief work in the flood-affected areas, according to the vice chairman of Sneha Sandhya KJR Sharma.
TTD initiative
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad conducted religious processions and raised donations for the flood victims.
VUDA Vice Chairman V.N. Vishnu contributed Rs.1,116. The teams organised cultural programmes at schools to inspire students.
The Kalyanostavam of Lord Venkateswara would be organised at Sri Krishna Mandir and at Sri Vaibhava Venkateswara Swamy temple at NGO s Colony at Murali Nagar on October 18. The collections received through special hundis on that day would be donated to flood victims. Bharatiya Seva Sadan members, under the leadership of Senapathi Appa Rao, collected clothes, rice and cash for the flood victims. They handed over nine bags of rice, 30 sacks of clothes and a DD for Rs.5,000 to MLA Tainala Vijaya Kumar.
Pensioners’ gesture
State Government Pensioners’ Association donated their one-day pension towards flood relief. A decision was taken to contribute the amount to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, according to its general secretary D.D. Prasada Rao.
Students of TSR and TBK Degree and PG College collected donations from the public for the flood victims. Director T. Umamaheswara Rao flagged off a rally by the students.
Directors of Sukhibhava Real Estates Private Limited M.A. Hussain, N. Harikrishna and P. Shankar contributed Rs.25,000 to the CM’ s Relief Fund. The company also collected six tonnes of rice, 2,500 pairs of clothes and steel utensils.
Villagers of Yellapuvanipalem and Gopalapatnam donated 25 bags of rice, utensils and clothes to the flood victims. They handed over the materials to Visakha Welfare Federation president D. Varada Reddy. They also sent Rs.10,000 to Saakshi Relief Fund and Rs.1,000 to CM’ s Relief Fund.
