in the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation seems to have deepened with dissidents deciding to stick to their guns and move no-confidence motion against Mayor Adireddy Veeraraghavamma any time in the next two weeks.
Led by Deputy Mayor B. Satyanarayana Prasad, better known as ‘Box Prasad', 29 TDP corporators met here on Friday and expressed their willingness in writing to move a resolution against Ms. Veeraraghavamma.
The Deputy Mayor told media persons that including the Mayor, their strength is 30 and they were trying to enlist the support of six more to get the motion passed.
He said when they met party president N. Chandrababu Naidu recently, he promised to take a decision on April 27, but put it on hold because of the passing away of Sathya Sai Baba and the Kadapa byelection.
Mr. Satyanarayana Prasad alleged that the Mayor's husband, Adireddy Apparao, was running a parallel administration.
Also, no enquiry had been launched into allegations of corruption made by ruling party and Congress corporators.
One corporator from Praja Rajyam, two corporators from the YSR Congress and three more from the Congress are expected to vote in favour of no-confidence motion.
However, Congress floor leader Polu Vijayalakshmi did not spell out her party's stand on this issue.
The 29 corporators said they would boycott the council meeting on Saturday and press for the Mayor's resignation .
