Rahul should prove his words true, he says
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi should act tough and immediately dismiss the tainted Ministers at Centre and in the State, said Bharatiya Janata Party vice president Bandaru Dattatreya.
Referring to the statements made by Mr. Rahul Gandhi at the Delhi PCC headquarters in Delhi describing himself as ‘not having a soft heart like that of his mother Sonia Gandhi’ but ‘tough and determined like his grandmother Indira Gandhi’, Mr. Dattatreya told a media conference here on Friday that if that was true Mr. Rahul Gandhi should immediately sack the ‘tainted Ministers in AP’, who were being protected by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. He also demanded resignation of the Chief Minister.
Referring to the claims of Ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao and Sabita Indra Reddy that they had only signed on the files that were approved by the Cabinet during the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy regime, the BJP vice president said that if that was the case all the present ministers, who were there in the Cabinet at that time should be dismissed. He also demanded dismissal of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as the Lok Ayukta had charged her with siphoning off Rs.11 crore.
Mr. Dattatreya predicted the defeat of the Congress in the 2014 General Elections. There were clear indications that the Congress would not regain power in view of rampant corruption, rising prices and lopsided policies. Not only the public were disillusioned with the Congress but even the UPA partners were not ready to align with it anymore.
He said that the BJP has geared up to fill the ‘political vacuum’ through a comprehensive plan to regain power. He predicted that the next few months the image of the Congress would be sullied further. BJP president Rajnath Singh, senior leaders Advani, Sushma Swaraj would campaign in the state. A public meeting where 1 lakh people are expected to attend was planned in Hyderabad for July in which party leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would also campaign. He was optimistic that the party would bag a good number of Lok Sabha seats from AP during the next elections. He said that the BJP national executive meeting would be held in Goa on June 7, 8 and 9.
