Issues that are common between the CPI (M) and the CPI and areas where they differ would be known after the all-India conferences of the two parties, to be held here during April and at Puducherry during this week, respectively, CPI(M) State secretary and party politbureau member B.V. Raghavulu said here on Monday.
"Then an effort can be made towards the two parties going together. At present we are trying to bring together all the left forces. Right now only four major left parties - CPI(M), CPI, RSP and Forward Block are together. In AP 10 left parties are working together and six at the national level. There is a need to increase the left unity and we are discussing with all left-minded parties to increase left unity", Mr. Raghavulu said after launching a mobile app android for the party's 21st All-India congress to be held here from April 14 to 19. Party's State secretariat member Ch. Narasinga Rao was also present.
The party congress here is significant due to various reasons and would discuss the events, issues that took place in the previous three years. The Visakhapatnam Congress would, however, ponder over happenings in the previous 25 years also.
Some important issues to be taken up are the hurdles the left parties faced and the reasons for not achieving the expected results, the setbacks suffered in West Bengal and other places and the plans to be made to lay a strong foundation for left movement; BJP gaining power in the Lok Sabha on its own. Other issues to be discussed inlcuded managing other parties in the Rajya Sabha in spite of not having majority and the threat to nation's unity and secular status, with a Hidutva party gaining power. The need to create a broad platform to fight the communal forces and brining the democratic and progressive forces on a single platform for a united effort.
Mr. Raghavulu reiterated the party's stand that it wanted AP to remain unified and though the State was divided it formed a joint organising committee consisting of office-bearers of its AP and Telangana committees to make it clear that though the politicians divided the State, people continue to be cordial towards each other and were ready to struggle for their welfare and prosperity. Preparations for the party congress were going on well with the people extending a lot of support, he said.
The CPI(M) leader said that the party wanted a people-centric development in Visakhapatnam, north coastal Andhra and all over AP and they were totally involved in the development activity. Development did not mean that foreign agencies were handed over a city. Development of AP would also be discussed during the party Congress, he added.
