In charge Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University and Vice-Chancellor of Adikavi Nannayya University George Victor has called for discipline among graduates pursuing higher technical education.
Addressing the Graduation Day celebrations of Avanthi group of institutions of Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram at Kalabharati auditorium on Tuesday, he observed that conduct was more important than a certificate or a degree. “Education that is not useful for enlightenment is of no use. China and India are in front runners as far as world development is concerned, and Indians should work hard to compete with the Chinese in future,” he noted. Registrar of Ambedkar University, Srikakulam, V. Krishna Mohan, appealed to students to learn the tricks of the trade before they embarked on a profession. “A profession is not a fashion, but a passion for young graduates. Innovation is the key and students have to enhance their technical skills along with leadership qualities to grab the employment opportunities available all over the world due to globalisation,” he stated.
Chairman of Avanthi group of colleges and Bheemunipatnam MLA M. Srinivasa Rao urged students to keep Avanthi flag high by practicing self-restraint and hard work. He said the group was taking steps to transform the colleges of the group into Centres of Excellence.
Permanent affiliation
Director of Avanthi Research and Technological Academy B. Satyam, who gave a report, said JNTUK had conferred Permanent Affiliation status to Avanthi Engineering College, Makavarapalem.
Principal of Avanthi Engineering College C. Mohan Rao welcomed the guests.
In all, 800 students who passed out engineering and pharmacy from Avanthi colleges received their degrees on the occasion.
