‘Digital knowledge repository vital for research’

Senior officer from NASA Langley Research Centre, the U.S., Manjula Ambur, on Thursday said digital knowledge repository was very useful for scientific research community.

Ms. Ambur, Chief Knowledge Officer and Head, Information Management, at NASA Langley Research Centre, delivered a talk on ‘NASA’s use of Advanced Information Technologies, at Management Development Centre, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The talk focused on how Information Management Organisation had been utilising various information technologies to promote technical excellence and scientific innovation at NASA’s Langley Research Centre.

It also focused on how enterprise search software provided a one-stop search of all key technical information. She explained how a digital knowledge repository had been created and how text analytics software provided data mining capability to the scientific community at NASA. The presentation emphasised the collaborative approach between IT leaders, developers, scientists and engineers for successful implementation. RINL General Manager (IT) KVSSR Rajeswara Rao, who presided, highlighted various IT initiatives of the organisation.
