‘Dhanvantari award’ presented to city doctor

A former Chief Superintendent of the Port Hospital GVS Rao, who is heading the Medical Wing of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Visakhapatnam district, is among one of the three doctors from AP and Telangana States, who were presented the ‘Dhanvantari award’ at the National Doctors conference held at Puttaparthi recently.

Around 1,500 doctors and paramedics from all over India were felicitated at the conference by the trustees of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust in the presence of Health Ministers of AP and Karnataka Kamineni Srinivas and Ramesh Kumar respectively.

The other doctors were JB Venkata Rau from Hyderabad and Dilli Babu (East Godavari district).

Dr. Rao was chosen for the award in recognition of his contribution to providing medical services to the poor for the past three decades. He was felicitated by SG Chalam, State president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation for AP and Telangana, at a function held in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
