‘DG Dial 100’ gets good response

The ‘D.G. Dial 100’, launched by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Ugadi this year to provide police services to the public in times of emergency, has been receiving good response from the public at the 19 police stations in the city.

The D.G. Dial 100 at the individual police stations is being manned round-the-clock by three constables in shifts. These constables, designated as ‘SPOC’, will receive the calls from the public and send police response teams to the required spot. They reach the scene of crime with 20 minutes and initiate necessary action. They inform the Station House Office (SHO) concerned for further action. A total of 1,761 calls were received from the public by DG. Dial 100 during last month (September). These include: 250 by Fourth Town police station, 210 by Gajuwaka, and 203 by Kancharapalem police station. The calls related to body offence were 371, property disputes 54, road accidents 556, suicides and other cases 106 and the calls related to crime against women were 674.

Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy appealed to the public to make use of the service. He warned that those making fake calls would be punished by the SHO concerned in accordance with the law.
