With a large number of trees getting uprooted all over the city, it is a massive task for the relief personnel to clear the roads.
On day three after cyclone Hudhud, a large number of men and machines are at work. The cutting of trees and removing them paves the way for restoration of power.
While some teams are cutting the trees that fell across the roads, lifting the huge heaps of sawn off branches has turned out to be a big task.
To accomplish the task, a total of 100 earth-moving machines and as many tippers pooled from various districts are pressed into service, according to officials monitoring the operations.
Besides Army, NDRF, SDRF, Fire Services personnel, local police are at work. A total of 7,000 workers are on the job.
Officials monitoring the work are trying to improve the coordination between the teams cutting the trees and those lifting them.
The lifted debris is being dumped in government sites in each of the zones for now.
