Cyclone threat: Boats, choppers kept ready in Vizag

Navy boats and helicopters have been kept ready and inflows into reservoirs are being closely monitored in view of the heavy rain forecast under the influence of cyclone ‘Phailin’.

Three teams of National Disaster Response Force, comprising 160 personnel, have arrived and are ready to provide any assistance required.

Special officers at mandal and Assembly constituency-level and staff were readied to act in case of any exigency. Essential commodities are stocked and villagers alerted through a tom-tom.

Minister for Investment and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who reviewed the preparedness on Fridaywanted various departments to act in coordination.

In view of the experience of ‘Neelam’ cyclone enough fodder must be kept ready.
