As many as 135 students, schoolchildren, and others, participated in a cycle rally organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India’s State branch on the beach road here on Sunday to mark the 150 birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, which is being celebrated as the National Youth Day.

The rally in which NCC cadets of Mrs. A.V.N. College; Youth India volunteers, students of Alwar Das colleges, school students and others participated, went on a 10-km route from Aqua Sports complex to the Youth Hostel via Appu Ghar, MVP Colony, Venkojipalem, CMR Central, GVMC main building, Jagadamba junction and Coastal Battery. DCP (traffic) V. Suresh Babu flagged off the rally. Director of Sports of GVMC and ACP in-charge of Zone III Y. Srinivasa Rao was chief guest of the closing function held at the Youth Hostel. NCC Officer of Mrs. A.V.N. College N. Ramakrishna, chairman of YHAI State branch Ch. Sreenivasa Prasad, secretary N. Nageswara Rao, Manager of SETVIZ R. Nageswara Rao, senior journalist M.R.N. Varma and others spoke.

The YHAI felicitated a young scientist Sunanda and Bhaskarachary, who recently completed the feat of telling jokes non-stop for 52 hours, during the valedictory function.
