Forty Two Labs, founded by a group of entrepreneurs from Israel and India with rich experience in the field of IT, has launched operations of the first-of-its-kind global cyber security research centre set up by it here.
The R&D lab, specialising in next generation technologies to check cyber crimes following the increase in demand for digital transactions, will be located at the Sunrise Incubation Hub in the Madhurawada IT Special Economic Zone. With Visakhapatnam being developed as a FinTech Valley, it will also take up research projects in the sector. The MoU for the prestigious project was signed with the State government in October 2016. AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA), an autonomous body set up by the government to promote investments in electronics and IT, is closely associated with the project. According to indications, the project is located in Visakhapatnam keeping in view the strategic location of the city and its neighbourhood.
Visakhapatnam is home to the headquarters of Eastern Naval Command, marine commandos, submarines, Hindustan Shipyard Ltd and Ship Building Project (which builds nuclear armed Arihant submarines), Naval Alternative Operational Base (NAOB), and second campus of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre at Rambilli.
IT Adviser to Chief Minister and Special Chief Secretary J.A. Chowdary told The Hindu on Saturday that with the cyber space occupying a lot of importance, the R&D lab was expected to evolve technologies to combat new types of cyber terrorism and offences.
